About Rachel Maher Art
I have demonstrated a natural ability to create from quite a young age. My parents encouraged my artistic ability and it developed as I progressed through my school years. Finding out I have a type of colourblindness as a young girl was a confusing time, but I never allowed it to stop me from exploring my passion, and what I had a natural talent for.

I have a range of skills and enjoy to explore many mediums of art, such as resin art, calligraphy, mandala art, abstract art and crafts. My favourite medium to work with is acrylic paint, I enjoy vivid and bright colours, since the world can be quite dull to my eyes.

One of my most proud moments was winning a competition with my t-shirt design for Irish artist, Damien Dempsey. I am a huge fan of his and was so proud when I was told by his team that he personally chose my design. The t-shirt sold out in one night at his Vicar Street gig in December 2019 to my delight. I based the design on one of his songs "Chris and Stevie" a song about suicide prevention. I knew this design would mean a lot to his fans, as it does to me.

My inspiration for my art comes from life, nature, my surroundings, fairy tales, peace and tranquillity. I paint from the soul. My art soothes not just my soul, but those around me. I love to create pieces that can offer an escape from the grey, mundane normality of life. Through my eyes, I provide a pathway for others to experience visually, the joy that I feel through creation.
